That said, I’m not convinced by Royal. I want to be, for the same reasons Nosemonkey cites – France needs a kick up the arse, and I’d rather it came from the left than the right. But I’ve seen little evidence she’s willing to force through reforms that are going to

a) put a hefty dent in the French social model, and
b) sting like buggery.

But, of course, she’s a socialist, and so everything she stands for must be dismissed as worthless.

To the best of my knowledge, Heffer has himself advocated all these things in print.
