Katie: I think you’ll find Season 6 a (slight) return to form after Seasons 4 and 5, which were pretty diabolical. It certainly gets interesting in the second half of the season, although there is a tendency to use last week’s news to write the plots for next week’s episode…

Thanks Dave, I’m a bit mixed up on seasons with the transatlantic switch…they’re showing seven over there at the moment, and I’m trying to resist reading the recaps on television without pity: it will just make series six even more disappointing.

In episode three, the scriptwriters dropped in a little line about Ã¢â‚¬Ëœgoing into a Presidential election yearÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ and just like that expected the audience to swallow the disappearance of an entire year of time. They only got re-elected last seasonÃ¢â‚¬Â¦

Bartlett was elected for his second term in season four (the one I'm just watching on DVD). The election night is 4x07 and his inauguration is in 4x14 and 4x15. But you're right, there is a discrepancy there. People even more anal than me have put the details on Wikipedia.
