To be honest I’m watching it hoping for a “Late Late Breakfast Show”-style fatality. On the basis that if it’s worth 100,000 deaths to bring democracy to Iraq, surely it’s worth one or two to end Johnny Vaughan’s career?

The comment thread on the plasticbag.org post has identified one of the participants as an actor and another as being on the books of an extras’ agency; I gather (never having watched the programme) that this is in addition to the known plants. So perhaps it is a set-up. I’m still not sure quite who or what is being ‘satirised’, though.

I was looking at the TV Go Home book last night, and there's a programme in that called Ship Of Fools which is a reality show where a group of stupid people are left to run a cruise liner in the Mediterranean for the amusement of a watching audience back home. I'd like to believe that Andrew's right, and the only people being held in front of the viewing public for them to laugh at are themselves and the 'actors' who've fallen for it, but the presence of Johnny Vaughan - a man so removed from the concept of irony he thought calling a sitcom 'Orrible was a good idea - doesn't make me believe that. Then again, maybe he's being made a fool of (not a hard job) or perhaps his entire career is one long joke at the expense of the entire British viewing public.
